Tarzan loves Jane. It’s a deeply moving and deeply disturbing tale of the devastating and long-term effects of childhood abuse. But more than that, it speaks to the human need for connection and love with the message that everyone deserves love. The rich cast of characters are deeply developed and support the main character in the weaving of this tale. The writing style is raw and real to the point that I thought I was reading a memoir. The subject of sexual abuse can be triggering to some readers. The author handled the healing process with its starts, stops, and regressions very well in the story.. as a therapist, I love the use of narrative therapy to treat his past abuse.
Overall, if sexual abuse, suicidal ideation’s or mental health issues are not triggers for you. I would highly recommend this book

This book is an open, honest and inspiring portrayal of mental health and lived experience. It is equal parts confronting, light hearted, romantic and leaves you feeling like you want to read more. I highly recommend it but would give fair warning to readers who may struggle with mental health or have past experience of traumatic events. I found the book truly enlightening and an inspiring journey showcasing one man’s determination to do better, be better and see the world and himself better.
